About Goldust ...
Goldust is a trio of
three very good friends who use three-part harmony and a wide array of
instrumentation to bring to their audiences a fun musical experience,
covering many styles of music across several
decades. Bob, Marianne and Bill returned to their
music in 2006, after taking a break of about twenty years.
Knoxvillian
Tom Jester wrote the notes for an album that Goldust recorded in their
early days. His comments are just as relevant today:
It shouldn't be
surprising that the state bird of Tennessee is the
mockingbird. After all, the mockingbird is known far and wide
for the skill of its song performance and the diversity of its musical
influence and repertoire, much like Tennessee itself. People
here admire and enjoy the mockingbird so much they say that if you've
got one good mockingbird singing out in your yard why, heck, you don't
need any other birds.
Which brings us to the
discovery of goldust. Goldust, like the song of a
mockingbird, is a complete musical experience. It's a group
with a remarkable range of tunes and styles, each played with a love
for good music, good harmony, good humor and good times for all.
Their repertoire includes
the moods of the 30's and 40's, some new treatments of old pop and rock
classics; and some select country and foot-stompin' cajun
music. So sit back and enjoy the soiree.
By the
way--- Bob and Marianne and Bill are all native
Tennesseans. Together they're Goldust. Musically, like the
multi-talented mockingbird, they'll treat you so many ways one of 'em's
bound to be right.
